Edith Peck Wheeler, a lifelong resident of White Plains, NY, died peacefully at her home on September 26, 2008 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her father, Walter, mother, Edith and sister, Elena. Surviving are her caregiver, Pam Wood, cousins, Wendall, Donald and Eunice Childs and her faithful dog, Buddy.
Edith graduated from Russell Sage College and worked for FMC Corporation in New York City for 25 years. She was a faithful member of Ridgeview Congregational Church in White Plains all her life, and wrote poetry that she often sent to people to cheer them up.
She was very athletic and an avid tennis player as well as an ardent advocate for the protection of animals.
Friends may call from 7-9pm Tuesday, September 30, at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 1 at Ridgeview Congregational Church, 12 Ridgeview Avenue, White Plains, interment to follow at Kensico Cemetery.
