Edith Otterspoor, of White Plains, NY, died Monday, November 18, 2013. She was 84 years old. Edith was born November 19, 1928 in Tegal, Indonesia, daughter of the late Goudens Bockel and Paulina DeVries Bockel. Edith married Bertus Otterspoor who predeceased her in 2008. During World War II Edith, her mother and her three sisters were taken prisoner in Indonesia and survived after four years in a Japanese concentration camp. Surviving are her daughter, Inge Gellatly and son, Erny (Suzanne) Otterspoor, and 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicole, Danielle and her husband Daniel, Sean and Jaclyn. Edith is also survived by a newborn great grandchild Jorge, son of her granddaughter Nicole and her husband Jorge and three sisters, Laura and Irene of the Netherlands and Josephine. She was a gourmet cook, a loving family woman and was very dedicated to her family. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:30pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 430 North Street, White Plains, NY.
