Edith June Cacciola

Edith June Cacciola died peacefully on September 28, 2010 in the loving care of the Sisters at Rosary Hill Home, after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Edith was born in New Rochelle on December 3, 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and worked for many years In the Vernon Manor Coop Section II, where she also lived, had been a Board member and was considered an integral part of the Coop community. Edith was a devout Catholic, who at one time served as a Eucharistic minister at the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, Bronx, NY and most recently was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe. Edith was predeceased by her father, Joseph A. Cacciola, and is survived by her mother, Edith J. Cacciola of Florida, her son, John Pergola of Mount Vernon, her brother, Douglas R. Cacciola and sister- in-law, Raina Kor-Cacciola of Briarcliff Manor and cousins, Robert, Sandy and Shelby Amato and Lynne, Joe, Courtney and Ashley Petrone. Friends may call at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532, 914-769-4404, on Friday from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, 53 Winter Hill, Tuckahoe at 9:30 am. Interment will be at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532 or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. We will miss Edie; her contagious smile will remain in our hearts forever.
