Mrs. Edith May Clayborn-Bethea, a longtime Elmsford resident went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, November 8, 2010 in White Plains. She was born November 12, 1922 in White Plains, JNY to Algeron and Martha Clayborn. She attended Eastview Middle School and White Plains High School. She graduated from New York University with a Bachelors of Science Degree. Edith married George Herbert Bethea Sr. on September 4, 1947. They celebrated marriage for 49 years. She was a member of St. Francis and St. Martha's Episcopal Anglican Church in White Plains. Edith played beautiful music service as the organist at the church until 2003 when she retired. She enjoyed cooking, music, reading, and gardening. Mrs. Bethea an amazing, kind and strong woman leaves to cherish her life; a son George Bethea Jr., daughters Sheriane Bethea, Renee Bethea and Yvonne Bethea-Scarborough; four grand children Selina Bethea, Marquita Scarborough, Jasmine Scarborough and Cornell Scarborough; a great-grandson Aaron Jaden Sprague Jr.; a sister-in-law Martha Bethea Collins; cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George and two daughters Misa Bethea and Charlene Bethea.
