Eda Burne

Eda Marie Burne, 75, of Hartsdale, NY,passed away on December 20, 2009 following a brief battle with cancer.
Born Eda Marie Simpson in White Plains, NY to Ida and George Simpson on September 18, 1934, she attended Post
Road Elementary School and graduated from White Plains High School in 1952.
Eda later attended Skidmore and Barnard Colleges, graduating Barnard in 1956
with a BA in French. She was married to John Burne Jr. of Pelham NY in 1955.
Eda is survived by children Virginia Glasscock of Picabo ID, John Burne III of Sacramento CA, and Liz Burne of Sharon CT. Also surviving are siblings George Simpson of New York and Virginia Mickle of Flemington NJ. After retirement, Eda contributed her boundless energy to promote historical
preservation and community
beautification. She will be truly missed by family, friends, and colleagues. A
spring memorial celebration of her life is planned.
