Dr. Melvin Margulis, longtime resident of Westchester County, NY who practiced Optometry in White Plains for nearly forty years, died after a brief illness on November 28, 2020. With his wife of 53 years, Martha Margulis, he loved to spend time with family, ski, play tennis and travel the world. He was also an active supporter of her prolific career as a painter. After Martha's death in 2003 he was longtime companion of Ellie Robinson of Scarsdale NY. They enjoyed time with friends, playing tennis and bridge.
He is survived by his three loving children; Caryn Coran of White Plains, Shari Lifson of Baltimore and Beth Margulis Frantzen of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He is also survived by his sister Anita Miller of New Jersey and five loving grandchildren: Jessica and Lianna Lifson and Ezra, Osger and Meia Frantzen. Dr. Margulis earned a BS from Syracuse University and a degree in Optometry from Columbia University in New York. He served in the Army Airforce from 1943 - 1945 as a pilot in training.
