Dorothea F. (Schlesinger) Tefft, born August 30, 1916 in New York City, moved to White Plains at the age of 2 becoming a lifelong resident. Married George H. Tefft on May 29, 1938 (predeceased her on May 12, 1993). Attended White Plains schools, graduate of CCNY, attended NYU and matriculated at UCLA. Featured in many local musical plays and entertained at local hospitals. Also active in basketball (All County Team) and other sports.
She was active in the PTA in several capacities in the White Plains school system. Other activities included the First Baptist Church, world travel and gardening. Initially she worked for Frasek Company as a translator and later at Sonotone as a cost accountant, and lastly was a teacher at the Tefft Business School, 189 Main Street, White Plains.
Immediate survivors include her sons, Harold Tefft and wife Janet of Beacon, NY, and Gregory Tefft and wife Lindy of Laguna Niguel, CA. Grandsons Mark and wife Johnna with great grandsons Nicholas and William. Michael and wife Melissa with great grandson Timothy and great granddaughter Courtney. Brothers Alfred, Robert and Eugene and his wife Jean also survive her. There are also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
