In Loving Memory of Dorothea M. Constantino ("Nana")
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Dorothea M. Constantino-affectionately known as "Nana"-at 101 years old on April 15, 2025. Nana passed away peacefully in her Hawthorne, NY home, where she had resided for the past 70 years.
Born on December 4, 1923, in Manhattan, NY, Nana lived a life full of love and dedication. She was married to Anthony E. Constantino for 59 wonderful years. She was predeceased by her late husband, her son Robert E. Constantino, her brother Thomas Macone, and her sister-in-law (and best friend) Mary Filiciotto.
Nana was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind her eldest son, Mark Sr., and his wife Janice, along with their four children-Mark Jr., Alyssa, Julie, and Daniel (wife Kelsey)-and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Eleanora. She is also survived by Robert's wife, Nadine; her daughter Cathy and husband Bob Belluzzi and their daughter Jessica (husband Michael); and her youngest son, Anthony, his wife AnnMarie, and their daughter Jenna.
In her earlier years, Nana worked as a secretary for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in New York City, where her exemplary typing skills and mastery of shorthand were highly valued. After dedicating herself to raising her four children, she continued her career as a secretary for the Accessor's Office at the Town of Mt. Pleasant.
A creative soul, Nana found joy in sewing, knitting, pottery, puzzles, painting, sudoku, and the daily challenge of the New York Times crossword puzzles. Remarkably tech-savvy for her generation, she embraced the digital world-using her computer, Facebook, iPad, and FaceTime to stay closely connected with friends and family. She was famously known for her delectable meatballs and Easter Bread every spring, and her love for playing cards (especially Uno) and games with her grandchildren brought endless laughter to family gatherings.
Nana loved to travel with her husband Tony to various reunions-FBI, Army, and college reunions (with special trips tied to Villanova University, her husband's alma mater)-and ventured throughout the country, enriching her life with new experiences and cherished memories.
A one-of-a-kind presence, Nana was a sweet, intelligent, and witty lady with boundless kindness, infectious laughter, and unwavering strength. We will always remember her personal, quick-witted phrases-like "cut corners hotel," "stop hollering," "oh, she lives up the line," and "those window curtains need a drink of water"-that captured her joyful spirit and made every moment with her uniquely delightful.
We will miss her hugs, her smile, home-cooked meals, the laughter that filled her house, and the togetherness we shared in her warm home. Nana's memory will forever remain in our hearts.
With love,
