Dora Paparesta, 96, a long-time resident of both New York and Florida, died Tuesday July 5, 2011 at the United Hebrew Home in New Rochelle, New York.

Dora was born on November 23, 1914 in the Bronx, New York to Dominick and Maria Mazza. She was a congregant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was also married. Dora was a dedicated mother who worked as a School Crossing Guard, School Aide and a Store Detective for Bloomingdales where she remained until her retirement. She was also a very devoted grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominick and Maria Mazza; son, Frank Paparesta; brothers, Camillo Mazza, NY, George Mazza, NY, Stephen Mazza, NY. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Paparesta LaMarca; her sister, Flora Peters, FL; her brother, Arnie Mazza, FL; her grandchildren, Gregory LaMarca, NY, Christopher LaMarca, NY, Jennifer LaMarca, NY, Stephanie Ferrara, FL, Nicholas Paparesta, CA; and 3 great-grandchildren who brought her great joy to her later years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:15 am on Wednesday, July 13, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bronx, NY. Burial will follow at Saint Raymond's Cemetery in Bronx, NY.

Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, White Plains, NY, has been entrusted with arrangements.
