Diego Blazquez was a loving husband, hardworking father, proud grandfather, proud great-grandfather and a loyal friend. He welcomed everyone he met with open arms. If you were fortunate enough to meet him, your heart was touched and filled with joy while in his presence. To be with him was a blessing. His legacy will live on through generations. Although he is no longer here, his soul will never die.
Diego was born in Quintana de la Serena, Badajoz Spain on March 15th,1930. He is the third child of Juan Maria Blazquez and Isabel de Tena. He moved to White Plains, New York on November 10,1968 where he made a living working as an electrician at The New York Hospital Cornell Medical Division in White Plains , and continued to use his artistic abilities everywhere he could, especially in his home.
Diego was a talented artist, unlike anyone you have ever seen. He began oil painting at a very young age with his father, Juan Maria who was a school teacher and artist. His natural talent became a passion throughout his life while teaching his children and youngest granddaughter, Deanna. He loved fishing, hunting, and listening to classical music, especially the Opera, Disney ,Spanish Zarzuelas, and the movie The Sound of Music. Diego enjoyed learning about birds and nature, and he used his knowledge to apply it in his artwork.
Diego is survived by his wife, Bibiana Blazquez, his children, Ana Maria McCullough (Gary), Juan Pedro Blazquez (Patricia), and Isabel Pasqualone, His grandchildren: Deanna McCullough, Daniel Blazquez, Victoria Blazquez (Daniel), Christina Pasqualone, and Anthony (Christine) Pasqualone and His great grandchildren: Rhys Woodstead, Luca Pasqualone, and Isaac Pasqualone. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Manuel and Petra Blazquez. Diego touched many hearts in his long and fruitful life. He is predeceased by his parents Juan Maria Blazquez and Isabel de Tena as well as his siblings: Ana Sanchez Blazquez, Maria Purificacion Quintana Blazquez and Maria Engracia Olea Blazquez.
A celebration of Diego's life will take place at Ballard Durand Funeral Home located at 2 Maple Ave, White Plains, New York on Wednesday, March 10th from 3:00-8:00pm. A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, March 11th at St. John the Evangelist Church, located at 148 Hamilton Ave, White Plains, New York at 10:00am. Internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
