David Taxin, 75, passed away June 19, 2023 at his home, following a 3-year battle with ALS.
David was born July 20, 1947 to Harry and Shirley (nee Harris) in Bronx, NY and then moved to New Rochelle where he spent the majority of his childhood and years later raised his own family.
David was an avid tennis and racquetball player, musician, and advocate for civil rights and equality. He attended George Washington University where he met his wife Nancy (nee Feldman). They married in 1969 while he was a student at George Washington Law School, where he graduated with honors. David practiced law for nearly five decades in Washington D.C., Milwaukee and New York City but music and his family were his true loves.
David wrote and recorded many of his own songs releasing albums in the 1960's on records and in 2020 on iTunes. He also wrote many celebratory and satirical songs for his family and friends. David volunteered his time by coaching his children's youth sports teams, and served as the Commissioner for Youth Baseball of New Rochelle.
David is survived by his wife Nancy, children Amy (Medardo Bonilla) and Michael (Denise Conte) his 4 grandchildren, Raquel Bonilla 13, llana Bonilla 10, Jeremy Taxin 6, and Noah Taxin 4, his 2 younger brothers Ira (Janet) and Paul (Christine) and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his mother-in-law Shirley Feldman (nee Hiersteiner) and father-in-law Roger Feldman, brother-in-law Michael Feldman and sister-in-law Judith Feldman.
David was passionate about fighting hatred of all kinds around the world, and pursued a lifelong quest of Tikkun Olam, the Jewish concept of repairing the world. To honor that, David has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his honor to the
Anti-Defamation League
