David Robert Alderese, age 64, passed into eternal life on October 4th, 2017 after a 3 ½ year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Yonkers, NY he lived in Ossining, Mount Kisco and Hawthorne, NJ before moving to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2013.
He was a 1975 graduate of Pace University obtaining a degree in Communications. He was employed as a Chef at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Ossining before spending over 30 years working at Northern Westchester Hospital in various positions including food service. He was a devoted member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale. He spent time volunteering for Beyond Nine Cat Rescue where he adopted his loving pets, Konan and Robin. David spent his leisure time gardening and baking where everyone got to enjoy his delicious cheesecakes and carrot cake.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Irene (nee Ziman) Alderese, he is survived by his loving partner David Van Ry of Fort Lauderdale, his beloved brother Joseph of Morgan Hill, CA, his caring aunt Joan Garrity of Yonkers, cousins, coworkers, and friends especially his lifelong special "brother" Phillip Quaranto of Mount Kisco.
Visiting hours will be Monday, October 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home "Elmsford Chapel". Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 10th at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford with burial to follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings on the Hudson. A Memorial Mass at St. Anthony's Church in Fort Lauderdale will be held at a later date to be announced.
