Born on March 8, 1945 Departed on December 21, 2009

Cori Goldenberg Maass died at the Westchester Medical Center on Monday, December 21, 2009. Ms. Maass was a clinical social worker and psychotherapist with a private practice called Heart-to-Heart Counseling that provided stress management and health and wellness services to hundreds of patients living with chronic illnesses and other issues.

Daughter of Charlotte I. Penn of Providence, RI and the late Harold Goldenberg, she was born in Fort Benning, Chattahoochee County, GA on March 8, 1945. She spent her early years in Pawtucket, RI before moving to Providence where she attended Hope High School and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1967. She later received her MSW from Fordham University while living in Katonah, NY and before relocating to White Plains in 1999. A past member of Temple Beth El in Providence she became affiliated with Temple Kol Ami in White Plains.

Besides her mother, she leaves two brothers Larry (and his wife Muay) of Bang Saen, Thailand and Jonas (and his wife Karen Weiner) Goldenberg of Northborough, MA. She is survived by two sons Aaron Maass of Philadelphia and Ethan Maass (and his wife Laura) of Pembroke, MA. She also leaves her adored mother-in-law Dolly Maass, wife of the late Richard Maass, as well as many devoted friends in White Plains and in Providence.

As a volunteer with the National Council of Jewish Women she assisted Sister Elaine Roulet in founding the Children's Center at the Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills, NY. She served as vice-president of the Westchester chapter of the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work and has spoken publicly on such diverse topics as domestic violence, alcohol and substance abuse, depression, anxiety, stress reduction, liver disease, preparing for surgery and organ donation awareness.

After receiving a life-saving liver transplant in 1999 she began working more with hospitals, and refocused her practice by facilitating stress management workshops, integrating healing imagery, hypnotherapy and other mind-body modalities into an holistic approach
to counseling.
