Connie (Concetta) Campaniello Peterson was born on May 26, 1927 in New Haven, Connecticut to Edward (Edoardo) Campaniello of Forino, Italy and Julia (Giulia Mosca) of San Valentino, Italy. She was the middle child of three (older brother, Alphonse, and a younger brother, Victor). The family moved to the Little Italy section of the Bronx, New York in the early 1930s.
On October 1, 1949, she married John Peterson (d. September 16, 1974), son of Winifred Brady and John W Peterson of the Bronx, NY. They raised three children – Christine (Rozek) of Fuquay Varina, Robert (Bob) of Queens, NY, and Julie (Milton) of Pinehurst.
A housewife in her early years, Connie worked for many years in inside sales at TRW Electronics in Rowayton, CT. She moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1993 and continued working in various office jobs until she was 85. She moved with her daughter, Julie, to Pinehurst in late 2019.
Connie had a great passion for life. She loved her Church, and her many friends from the Church women’s club, where she was a member for 25 years. She also loved the performing arts, playing cards, and bowling. She last bowled in October 2020 at age 93 and was delighted to still be rolling spares! Connie was admired for her incredible energy, kindness, and willingness to always be there for anyone who needed her.
In addition to her three children, Connie is survived by three grandchildren – Kim (Rozek) Willson of Raleigh, Joey Rozek, Pastor of Living Springs Fellowship Church in Freehold, NJ, Concetta (Peterson) Smith of New Braunfels, TX, and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
