Christopher Mark Tota

Christopher Mark Tota, age 61, died unexpectedly on October 2nd, 2023. Chris was a dentist who diligently served his community in Hawthorne, NY for over 30 years. In his career, he was a Council Member of the American Dental Association and a past President of the Ninth District Dental Association. Chris also devoted his life to community service. He was an active participant and leader in many organizations, both as a teen at Westlake High School in Mount Pleasant, and as an adult. Organizations that he was passionate about as an adult included the: Country Cycle Club, Mount Pleasant Rotary Club, and Somers Boy Scouts. At the Country Cycle Club, he served as Newsletter Editor, and Event Rides Chairman. For the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club, he presided as President, as well as served on many committees. Chris was also very active in Somers Boy Scout Troop 576, where he served as Membership Chair. Chris was an avid athlete in high school, and beyond. Chris was an incredible cyclist who took part in 100 and even 200 mile rides on grueling terrain. Chris was an avid hiker, and cross country skier. Chris enjoyed taking his family wilderness camping and introducing his children to his love of nature.

He is survived by his children, Alison Tota and Stefan Tota, who were his pride and joy; his loving parents Michael and Elizabeth Tota; former wife Judi Tota; brothers Michael Tota and Matthew Tota; sisters-in-law Laurie Tota and Kimberly Tota; aunts and uncles Robert Tota, Vivien Tota and Angelo Serman; nieces and nephews Leigh Ann Tota, Madeline Tota, Delia Tota, Katherine Tota, Andrew Tota and Nathaniel Tota; Cousins Robert Tota, Catherine Tota, Debra Belfiore and James Serman; and of course Dora, his rescue dog, who was always by his side. He will be missed by all of us and never forgotten by any of us. There will be a celebration of Chris' life at the Hawthorne Funeral Home in Hawthorne, NY on October 14th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
