After enduring Parkinson's Disease for 18 years, Charles Clarke McCrea, Jr. entered heaven on November 23, 2023.
He was born on May 12, 1932 in New York City to Charles C. McCrea and Josephine Scott Keyon. He was the stepson to Roger W. Kenyon.
Charles earned his B.A. degree in political science/history from Colgate University and master's degrees in teaching and history from Columbia and Syracuse Universities respectively. He served in the Air Force, rising to the rank of Captain.
Charles taught history at Mamoroneck High School for 30 years before retiring in 1990.
After retirement, he volunteered for 10 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children, and aided new immigrants at the International Center in New York City.
He co-authored a series of American history books and teacher manuals, "America Land of Change." He was ordained a Deacon in 1977 at White Plains Presbyterian Church. Charles loved baseball and was an avid Mets fan.
He is survived by his wife 63 years, Maryann Bruno McCrea, his sons Scott (Melissa), Jeffrey (Camilla), and grandsons Jack and Tom. He is also survived by his brother, Wolcott Kenyon, nieces and nephews. His brother James McCrea and sister Marie Kenyon Asbury predeceased him.
