Charles "Charlie" Curcio passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 25, 2010 at the age of 87. Born on April 25, 1922 in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, Charlie graduated Evander Childs High School an ARISTA National Honor Society member and served in the United States Army. A former long time resident of Yonkers, Charlie was predeceased by his loving and supportive wife of 52 years, Irene, and his eldest daughter Charlene. A beloved brother and father, Charlie is survived by his sister Lorraine Cortez of Suffern, and his devoted daughters Lynn (Chris) Curcio-Bonner of Valhalla, and Michele (Bob) Suhre of West Harrison. He will be remembered by his loving grandchildren, Danielle Curcio (Brian Ohleth), Crystal & Coral Curcio-Bonner, and RJ & Amanda Suhre. As a young man, Charlie worked for many years as a window trimmer, a profession illustrative of his creativity. An entrepreneur and proprietor of antique and furniture businesses in Yonkers for 40 years, Charlie was currently operating a store in Mount Vernon and worked 6 days a week up until last Saturday. Known for his sense of humor and story telling, Charlie has served as a mentor and friend to many in the community. He passed away at closing time. Internment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
