Carolyn Ann Major-Deveaux, a loving wife and aunt to her husband Robert Deveaux and niece Yasmine Fillmore died in New York's Albert Einstein Hospital on December 25, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 63.

Major-Deveaux was born in New York City to Hannah Quander Major and Addington Major on October 7th 1946. A true New Yorker she attended Cathedral, Archbishop
Hughes Memorial High School. Following her secondary education, Major-Deveaux attended both City collage for her BA and by Columbia University for her masters degrees in science. Staying true to her field Major-Deveaux continued to excel within the health profession until 2007. After which she pursued her more entrepreneurial and political interests. In 2006 she started a fledgling online gifts-store business and most recently she worked with the Obama election campaign in Ohio. Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling - three of her greatest passions.

Major-Deveaux met her beloved husband Robert while working in social work. After dating for nine years they married on April 19, 1979 and loved each other through good and bad for the past forty years.

Major-Deveaux is survived by her niece, husband, and sister, Beverly Major-Perry and a host of other relatives and friends. A constant source of laughter and warmth Major-Deveaux will be deeply missed yet eternally remembered by friends and family alike.
