Carol Fernandez

Carol Fernandez, 81, passed away on the 20th of October 2019 at 1:11 am. Mrs. Fernandez was born on October 05, 1938 in New York, borough of Manhattan to Benita Melendez. From that moment on, the world was introduced to one of the most spirited and gentlest souls amongst us. She married Joseph Batis and had two children, Steven and Denise Batis. As the stars separate in the universe, so do marriages. Carol entered into her second marriage to Dasio Fernandez. Together they continued to raise her children. Mr. Fernandez passed on in 2018. Mrs. Fernandez attended Lehman College, where she was the recipient of the Golden Key National Honor Society and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She furthered her studies abroad and at Columbia University, NY where she received her Masters of Science having completed a course of studies in Social Work. She retired from The City of New York Human Resources Administration having held a Directors post. Carol Fernandez, MSW Carol donated time and money to many causes. Children and Animals were her passion. She eased into retirement taking care of her home and family. She spent the last few years traveling, shows and shopping with her friend and confidant Aurora Farrington. The family called them Thelma and Louise. She is survived by her son Steven Batis. There is such an extended family and friends that there are too many to mention all who loved her. I know that her nieces and nephews were the joys of her life. Lois, Harry and Evan Sotnek. Marissa King, Brielle Perez, Monica, Brianna and countless others. You know she loved all. Services on Sunday October 27, 2019 between 2-6pm.
