Carmella "Millie" Galgano, a longtime resident of Greenburgh, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Greenwich Hospital. She was born in Yonkers, New York to the late Generoso and Emilia Scarano. In more recent years she resided with her daughter, Cheryl, in Greenwich, Ct. In 1950, she married Dan R. Galgano, Sr., and they enjoyed 47 loving years together prior to his death in 1997. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Jerry Scarano, Jr., and Angelo Scarano. She was a wonderful wife, mother and devoted homemaker. She cared deeply for her faithful friends and attentive neighbors, and considered them a part of her extended family. Her hobbies included reading, and a passion for classic films. Her generous spirit will be forever remembered by all those who loved her. She is survived by her son, Dan Galgano, Jr., her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl & Kurt Hothorn, of Greenwich Ct., and her faithful Jack Russell Terrier, Dolly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 23rd at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 92 S. Lexington Avenue, White Plains, N.Y., with interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery immediately following. Prior to the Mass, friends are invited to arrive at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 am to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
