Carmela (Millie) Gray (nee Macri) was called home to God on the morning of July 24, 2011 at the age of 79. She was born on April 5, 1932 to Francesca and Domenico Macri of the Bronx, N.Y. Millie was raised in Mount Vernon, N.Y. , graduating A.B. Davis High School and Mount Vernon Hospital School of Nursing. On May 30, 1958, she married William Gray. They initially settled in Mount Vernon, later moving to Valhalla, where they raised four sons and lived happily for over 30 years. Millie found great satisfaction working as a public health nurse for the Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester for many years, providing comfort and care to those in need. She continued to tirelessly serve her community even after retirement, working on a per-diem basismfor the agency. Millie was a devout Catholic, attending mass every day and serving on the Holy Name of Jesus Rosary Altar Society. Her life was a shining example of her faith in God. She will always be remembered for her compassion, kindness, and selfless love. Her legacy of endless support and family dedication touched everyone who knew her. She id survived by her husband Bill: her four loving sons and their wives; Bill and Beth, John and Sue, Rob and Beth, and Joey and Michelle Gray. As well as eleven grandchildren, and many other dear relatives and friends. Her brother, John Macri, and sister, Elizabeth Murphy, predeceased her. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday 5-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Wednesday 10 AM. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers donations to Visiting Nurses Service of Westchester.
