Carl Francis Monturo, age 78, of Raleigh NC and Boytnon Beach FL passed away peacefully Monday December 30, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham NC with his family by his side.

Carl was born in New York City to the late Carl A. and Albina G. Monturo on June 2, 1935. He grew up in the Kingsbridge Section of the Bronx. He was a 1956 graduate of Iona College, New Rochelle NY, where he was a founding member of the St Matthew Business Club. Carl Worked for the New York Telephone Co. where he met his future wife Kathleen Hill. Carl retired from the telephone company in 1991 after 25 years of service. He resided in Lilburn Georgia with his family from 1979 to 2003 and were founding parishioners of St John Neumann Catholic Church. In his retirement Carl enjoyed traveling the world with his family. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus serving as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He was also involved in the Junior Achievement and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Carl is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen G Monturo of Raleigh NC; four children, Matthew T Monturo, Augusta GA; Reverend Father Christopher W. Monturo, Pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison NY; Celeste Monturo of Sheboygan Falls; Mark F. Monturo of Raleigh NC; his Uncle Louis J. Monturo of Boynton Beach FL and 2 grandchildren, Christopher M. Monturo and Reagan M. Monturo both of Lilburn GA.

Carl will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening January 4th from 6-9 PM and Sunday January 5th from 2-5PM and 7-9PM at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home – 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday January 6th 2014 at 10:30AM at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison NY. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery
