Lt. Byron Hawks Newhall, USNR Ret., 90, a lifetime resident of White Plains, NY died on July 17, 2012 at the Westchester Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on March 31, 1922 in Greenfield, MA to the late Jennie & Charles Sanderson. Bryon was an active member of First Baptist Church in White Plains. He spent his entire career as a chemist with Union Carbide in Tonawanda, NY before being transferred to White Plains in the early 60's. He is a retired Lieutenant of the United States Navy Reserve who served on the USS Wichita in the Pacific Theater during WW2. Byron was the husband of the late Mildred Duprat Newhall who died in 2006. They were married in 1944 at the United States Naval Academy. His brother, Russell, also predeceased him as well as a grandson, David M. D'Aloia. Byron is survived by his loving children, Priscilla (David) Stonehouse of Sanford, FL and Nathan (Amy) Newhall of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by four grandsons- John J. D'Aloia of Lincolnton, NC, Robert P. D'Aloia of Brevard, NC, Nathan C. Newhall and Daniel B. Newhall both of Stamford, CT as well as three great grandchildren. Family and friends may call at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, Two Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605 on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4-8 pm. A Christian service will be held at First Baptist Church, 456 North Street, White Plains, NY on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2 pm. Internment will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 1 pm at the Clarksburg Cemetery in Clarksburg, MA. The family requests that donations be made in Byron's memory to First Baptist Church, 456 North Street, White Plains, NY 10605.
