Betty Gandolfo passed away on Saturday October 22, 2011 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Betty was born on March 29, 1912 in Brooklyn, New York to Grace and Joseph LaScala. She married Sylvester Gandolfo in 1934. Although they separated, she always kept their love in her heart. The well-being of her family was her top priority. She was a selfless and devoted mom to Joseph, Denise and son-in-law Bill. She was an adoring grandma to the brightest stars that shone in her life, Jaime and Christian. She was a loving sibling of Marie, Joseph and Edward, all of whom pre-deceased her. She was the always caring Aunt Betty to so many nephews, nieces, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews that she kept close to.
After moving to White Plains nearly sixty years ago, Betty worked as a salesclerk first at Genungs for many years and then at Macys. Because of her genuine love of people and her outgoing personality, Betty touched the lives of many and she formed enduring friendships. She was a loyal and true friend. She had a very special bond with dear friends Diane and Jackie.
Betty's indomitable, feisty sprit, quick smile, and friendly wave will be sorely missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hebrew Hospital Home and Hospice and Palliative Care of Westchester for the care, love and support given to Betty and her family. A very special thank you to her beloved Ana and Ann T. from Hospice.
Funeral services will be private. A memorial service to celebrate Betty will be at a future time.
