Beatrice Scherer passed away peacefully in her apartment in Croton-On-Hudson on December 14, 2017 after suffering 4 years of a rare neurodegeneration disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Beatrice Rosenberg was born on May 8, 1932 and raised an only child by her Ukrainian mother ("Bub") and grandmother in the East Bronx.
Bea was married in 1953 to Melvin Scherer and raised three sons in East Brunswick, NJ. She graduated from Middlesex County College and was the Director of Recreation at Jacobi Medical Center and moved back to The Bronx on City Island, where she lived for 25 years.
Bea evolved though the decades of the 60s through 80s, found her spiritual path though Siddha Yoga and followed a quasi-Jewish/Hinduism. In 2012, she followed a life-long dream of living on her own in Manhattan, enjoying with friends, the theater, museums and parks. But PSP sadly, changed the direction of her life.
Bea is survived by her three sons, Norman, Steven, Kevin, his wife Shari and 2 grandchildren, Jake and Eve.
Bea's family has requested, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to CurePSP (https://www.psp.org/)
