Arthur J. Bonagura, known to many for his passion for volunteerism and community service, passed
away at age 76 on October 8, 2020, following a brief illness.

Art was born to Arthur and Kate (Lazzara) Bonagura in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from New
Utrecht High School, Art served in the Army National Guard, and later graduated from the College of
Staten Island. He enjoyed a long career in information technology and contingency planning with
Guardian Life Insurance and New York Life Insurance companies.

A White Plains resident since 1992, Art was a member of the St. Bartholomew's church congregation for
more than 20 years. During that time, he served on the vestry and as a Warden of the church, as well as
on the board of Episcopal Charities for the New York Diocese. For many years, Art managed the soup
kitchen at St. Bartholomew's, coordinating volunteers in preparing and serving Sunday dinner every
week to neighbors in need. Following the 9/11 attacks, Art assisted with food service activities for
Ground Zero responders. He was also a dedicated Red Cross volunteer in Westchester for many years.
Art loved travel and was blessed to have visited numerous countries, as well as much of the United
States. He loved music of all kinds, especially rock and opera, and he enjoyed a life-long fascination with
cars. Art's greatest joy was spending time together with his children and grandchildren.

Art's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife Nancy Bonagura; children Stephanie
(Robert) Friedman and Michael (Patricia) Bonagura; step-children Kimberly Vollweiler and Jesse
Helfman; grandchildren Blake Friedman, Joseph Bonagura, Kaitlyn Vollweiler, Kurt Vollweiler, and
William Vollweiler; former wife Rosemarie Bonagura; sister Anne (Salvatore) Palazzo; and his devoted
nieces and nephews. Art's beloved dog Bonny will miss him terribly.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the St. Bartholomew's Church Soup
Kitchen or the American Red Cross.
