Arlene R. Napurski

Arlene Roberta Napurski passed away peacefully at her home on Friday October 21, 2016 after an extended illness. Arlene was born September 30th, 1936 in Mount Vernon, NY to parents Shade Hill and Ellen Aberg. She was the middle child to her sisters Edith and Judy. She attended AB Davis high school in Mount Vernon and graduated in 1955. She entered the secretarial field upon graduation. Soon after that Arlene met and fell for the love of her life Robert Napurski of Yonkers. They were married in September of 1957 and welcomed their daughter Joi in 1958. Arlene continued working and helped Robert with the paperwork from his salon. Then came their son Glenn in 1968. Arlene took a brief hiatus from being a career woman to be a stay at home mom and the family moved to Elmsford in 1973. Being a stay at home wife and mother just wasn't Arlene's cup of tea. In 1978 she became an executive secretary at San-Mar Laboratories and worked there for over 30 years until retiring. Through it all Arlene and Bob remained a strong and happy couple who laughed their way through the tough times, with Bob serenading Arlene each, and every day. Arlene was known for her phenomenal cooking skills and she loved nothing better than socializing with friends and family at annual parties. She was very active throughout her life and enjoyed many pastimes including bowling, golfing, swimming, walking, gardening, water aerobics, horseback riding, and attending the theater. Her favorite pastime of all was going to the beach. She often visited Jones beach and she enjoyed many summer vacations at Long Beach Island in New Jersey with her family and friends. Arlene is survived by her loving husband Robert, her daughter Joi, her son Glenn, her sister Judy along with numerous loving relatives and friends. Visiting, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Thursday from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Church of the Magdalene, Sleepy Hollow, NY on Saturday 11 AM.
