Antonio F Critelli, lovingly known as Tony, passed away on June 3, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on March 1, 1937, in Marcellinara, Province of Catanzaro, Italy. Antonio resided in White Plains, NY, where he spent his final years surrounded by his beloved family.
Having arrived in America at the age of 19, Antonio worked tirelessly to learn the American language and complete his citizenship. In 1964, he returned to Italy to find the love of his life, Francesca Critelli, and brought her to America to start a family. Together, they had their son, Vincenzo Critelli, and created a beautiful family that Antonio devoted himself to every day.
Antonio was a proud union laborer with Local 235, where he made lasting contributions throughout his career. He took great pride in his work and was admired by his colleagues.
In his free time, Antonio enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Nothing brought him more joy than having company for dinner and wine, cherishing the company of loved ones.
His favorite place in the world was at home, surrounded by his family and friends, in the garden he meticulously tended. He also loved going out dancing, embracing the joy of life.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Francesca Critelli, his daughter-in-law Janie Grimaldi (Robert Grimaldi), his grandchildren Francesca Critelli and Gabriella Critelli, and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his son, Vincenzo Critelli, in 2004.
Antonio will be remembered for his hard work, loving nature, kind heart, and sense of humor. His gratitude and appreciation for life touched everyone who knew him.
He was an active member of the Mount Carmel Church community, where he found solace and fellowship.
Antonio's Roman Catholic faith was an integral part of his life and provided him with spiritual guidance.
In memory of Antonio Critelli, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care in lieu of flowers. Antonio's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
