Anthony A. Paganico 86, of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y. and a former longtime resident of New Rochelle, N.Y. died on June 25, 2007 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. He was born on June 3, 1921 to Ferdanando and Maria (nee Picone) Paganico in New Rochelle, N.Y. He proudly served in the US Coast Guard during WW II on the US Calloway, and participated in not less than 7 amphibous assults and landing with the Marines as a member of the ships landing party and spent many nights in a foxhole. Some notable campaigns would include Saipan, Iwo Jima and the Philippine Islands where his ship took a direct hit from the Japanese killig 51 sailors and nearly sinking the ship. He was honorably discharged with not less than 7 Battle Stars awarded him for his service to his country. Mr. Paganico was a retired police lieutenant with the City of New Rochelle Police Dept. for 35 Yrs. retiring in 1980. He lead a life of service to his country, community and family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 yrs. Josephine Paganico of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y. His loving children Frederick Paganico and his wife Barbara of Mahopac, N.Y. Anthony Paganico and his wife Nancy of Mahopac, N.Y. Marie Cassiero and her husband Stephen of New Windsor, N.Y. and Kathleen Sullivan and her husband William of LaGrange, NY. 5 cherished grandchildren Anthony, Matthew, Dana Paganico and Stephanie Cassiero and Rebecca Sullivan and 2 great grandchildren Zachary Morales and Sienna Baglio. Also survived by 1 sister Rose Vitulli of New Rochelle, N.Y. Predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Where funeral services will be held on Thursday 10 AM. Interment Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, N.Y.
