Anthony J. Matranga

Anthony J. Matranga 85, of Valhalla, N.Y. died on Jan.4, 2010 at his residence. He was born on March 19, 1924 to the late Joseph and Laura Matranga in White Plains, N.Y. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. Anthony was retired Vice President of Operations for the Bank of New York in Harrison, N.Y. He was a charter member and past president of the Lions Club of Valhalla and received The Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated service. Tony served as Treasurer of the Valhalla Fire District and was a member of the Valhalla American Legion Post 1038 and a member of the Mt.Pleasant Seniors. He is survived by his wife Bertha Matranga of Valhalla, N.Y. and his son Richard Matranga and his wife Jennifer of Monroe, Conn. 1 sister Josephine Ruggero-Pellegrino of White Plains, N.Y. 3 grandchildren, 3 step children and 4 step grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Thursday 10 AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
