Anthony Maio, a 50-year resident of New Rochelle, NY, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025 at the Salem Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Purdys, NY; at the age of 77. He was born and raised in The Bronx, NY on May 28, 1947, son of the late Antonio and Caroline (Esposito) Maio. Anthony attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx; he went onto Manhattan College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
From 1966 to 1988 Anthony worked at the Alexander’s department store in the Fordham section of the Bronx, where he served various positions, ended as the Director of Purchasing.
Later on he went on to work from 2003 to 2016 at Hearst Publishers, where he was a facilities supervisor, until retiring. Anthony was an avid gardener; he designed the roof-top garden at Hearst; where the vegetables grown were used in the company cafeteria, a very proud moment for him, his family & company.
Anthony enjoyed vacationing every year to Jamaica; it was like a second home for him, always staying among natives not tourists. He also loved doing yoga and biking, staying physically active.
Anthony is survived by his two brothers, William (Toni) Maio and Robert (Pat) Maio; his niece, Chrissy Connors and his five nephews, Robert Maio, Anthony Maio, Daniel Maio, William Maio, Michael Maio; his three grand-nieces and two grand-nephews: Sofia, Emilia, Evie, Logan, and Henry. He is also survived by his loving companion Rosemary Martino.
His Family will receive Friends on Monday, February 17th from 4-8PM at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10am, Tuesday, February 18th at Holy Rosary Church, 170 Bradhurst Avenue, Hawthorne, followed by interment to Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York.
