Anthony Lallo

March 25, 2011 — April 2, 2012

Anthony (Tony) Lallo passed away peacefully at his residence with family at his side, on March 25, 2012, at the age of 88. He was born in Casacalenda, Italy to Angelo and Giustina Lallo in 1924. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and served five years as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion Post. Tony retired a Foreman, from New York City Department of Sanitation, following 35 years of exemplary service. Tony married his sweetheart "Dot" in 1952; they had a home in the Bronx, followed by 48 years on Lisa Lane in Valhalla, where they raised their three daughters, welcomed two son-in-laws, and were blessed by six cherished grandchildren. Tony was an avid gardener, an excellent mechanic, enjoyed trap shooting, and hunting with his brother, both lifetime members of the Mount Pleasant Sportsman Club, and the NRA. Following the passing of his wife, Tony relocated to Kansas near his daughter Susan and her husband Warren, who have overseen his care and enriched these last years immensely. Predeceased by his wife of 53 cherished years, Dorothy (nee Docherty) in 2006; lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Susan (Warren) Russo, Diane Lallo, and Kristine Dugan. Grandchildren: Anthony, Laura, and James Russo, and Tara, Sean, and Thomas Dugan. Predeceased by his sister Josephine (Tom) Cascio, and survived by his brother Joseph (Alexandra) Lallo. Remember Tony for his strength, perseverance, and resilience; his was not a life of ease, but a life lived long, well, and on his terms. He will live on in our hearts, always. Visitation will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 Stevens Avenue, on Monday April 2nd from 2-4 pm, and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Tony's life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Two Broadway, Valhalla, on Tuesday April 3rd at 10 am, with Father Joseph Farrone officiating. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's memory may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, as well as any act of kindness you may bestow on another, in his remembrance.
