It is with a heavy heart the family of Dr. Anthony J. Attalienti announces that his life’s journey came to an end on February the 8th, 2023 at the age of 86. Anthony was born in the Bronx to Antonio and Vincenza Attalienti. For most of his married and family life, he lived in Hartsdale and Edgemont. Most recently, he was a resident of New York City. He attended both NYU and NYU Dental School. After graduating, he joined the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky and served as a Captain in charge of the on-base oral surgery clinic. In 1960, just prior to leaving for his service, he married his childhood sweetheart Barbara, to whom he was married for nearly 63 years. While in the Army, they welcomed their first child Greg. After leaving the Army and moving from Kentucky to White Plains, Anthony welcomed his daughter Mia. She married Scott DeMatteis and they made Anthony a grandfather for the first time giving him three incredible grandchildren. Anthony’s youngest child Mark, gave him two beautiful granddaughters. More than anything, Anthony adored his five grandchildren and always wanted to be around them. His grandchildren returned that same adoration. Following his service, Anthony started a dental practice in Hartsdale where he treated his patients for 54 years and was highly regarded by his patients. Anthony’s skill, hard work and passion grew his practice, and as a result, in many cases, he treated multiple generations from the same family. Throughout his career, he was a member of the 9th Dental District Society. Anthony also served his community outside of his practice. Early on, he was president of the local Kiwanis Club and later the president of the Greenburgh Central 7 school board while living in Hartsdale. After moving to the Edgemont school district, he also served as president of their school board as well. Among his many accomplishments, he had one which he was particularly proud of, that was completing the NYC Marathon in 1982. Anthony was truly devoted to his family and the patients he cared for. His presence in our lives, his sage advice, and the love he gave will be deeply missed by his entire family and all who knew him. Anthony was a modest man and asked that the celebration of his life be a private one. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in his honor at the Lady Queen of Peace Chapel and he was laid to rest following the service in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla. In lieu of flowers, Anthony’s memory can be honored by making a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation . He would be happy to know that his memory helped children and heroes alike.
