Anne C. (McGurl) Curtin

Anne C. Curtin 91, formerly of Elmsford, N.Y. entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2018. Her loving family were by her side at NY Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital  at the time of her passing. Anne was born in NYC, the third child of Kathleen (Reynolds) and Thomas McGurl. She grew up and attended Cathedral High School in NYC. She began her career at General Food Corporation in Manhattan as a keypunch operator and met her husband Jim Curtin. They married on June 4, 1949 at St. Raymond’s Church in the Bronx and moved to Elmsford, N.Y. 5 years later. They raised 5 children and spent the rest of their lives together- separated only by Jim’s passing. After raising her children Anne returned to work in the Treasury Department at General Foods Corporation until she retired. Anne and Jim spent their retirement years happily “snowbirding” between a summer home in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania and a residence in Hutchinson Island, Florida. Survivors include her sister in laws Catherine Godfrey and Eileen McGurl. She is also survived by her 5 children, daughters, Anne Hyland and Patricia (Lee) Grissom, sons, James J. Curtin, Daniel F. (Donna) Curtin and John E. Curtin. There are 10 grandchildren, Daniel, Shannon, Patrick, Stephen, Collen, Caitlin, Courtney, Scott, Helyn and Kevin; and 3 great grandchildren, Riley, Bodi and Natalie. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Elmsford, N.Y. on Wednesday, 11 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
