Anna H. Burns of Rye Brook, NY died February 7, 2009 at the age of 54 at White Plains Hospital. She was born on October 6, 1954 to Mia Caslederan and Burton Hyman in Utica, NY but spent nearly her whole life in Rye Brook. She was a devoted and caring mother to her daughter Alana and a loving wife to her husband Richard. Her extended family includes sister-in-law Marylee Burns, cousins and nephews. She was a graduate of Valhalla High School and started a nursing career in 1978. She received an RN First Assistant Certificate from Delaware County Community College and pioneered the RN First Assistant field in this area. She became a member of Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses and the RNFA Specialty Assembly and served as a lobbyist in Albany. She also received a Masters in Family Nurse Practitioner from Pace University. In 1982 Anna started work as an OR nurse at White Plains Hospital. After becoming an RNFA, Anna work for many doctors at the different hospitals in the area. Anna always considered WPH as her base and truly loved her job and colleagues. Anna became an avid golfer and made many more true friends.
