Ann Grassi, 92, of White Plains passed away on November 22nd, surrounded by her family who loved her so much.
Ann was born on April 17, 1931 to Giovanni and Beatrice Castagna in Ruvo di Puglia, Italy. Her parents brought her and her three brothers to New York right after World War 2. They built a store in Tarrytown which she helped her parents operate.
Later she married Luigi Grassi in Canada, settled in White Plains and had 5 children together. As the kids got older, Ann became the manager of the WPHS cafeteria where she worked until she retired. She lived a full life with her children and grandchildren. She cared for her parents and her husband who passed away in 1999.
She is survived by her children Laura (Michael), Joey (Barbara), Bea (Rory), Louie (Laura) and Johnny (Bernadette), brothers Simon (Liz) and Carl (Angie), 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and her dear friend Simone. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother Vincent, and her granddaughter Kelly.
She was a devout and passionate Christian, who praised the Lord above all things. She was resilient, wise, witty, hospitable, and compassionate. She loved deeply and was adored by all those who knew her.
