Angelo Palmiotto, 77, a longtime resident of White Plains, died peacefully in his home on October 2, 2011. Born on July 20, 1934 in Giovinazzo (BA), Italy to the late Giuseppe and Serafina (nee LaBianca) he worked hard from a young age to help provide for his family. At the age of 18, Mr. Palmiotto, along with his two brothers, saw an opportunity to help provide for their struggling family by leaving Italy for the United States by way of Canada. On October 1, 1960 he married his bride Marcella (nee Tranfa) with whom he would later raise three children. Mr. Palmiotto worked as a stone mason up until his retirement and Marcella's subsequent death in 1996. He is survived by numerous cherished loved ones, among which are his children and their spouses, Joseph Palmiotto (Denise), Sandra Fanelli (Al), Marie Bottiglieri (Tom) and his eight cherished grandchildren, Albert, Joseph and Alyssandra Fanelli, Italia and Joseph Palmiotto and Thomas, Michael and Marissa Bottiglieri. Mr. Palmiotto is also survived by brothers Domenick of Center Reach, NY and Frank (Assunta) of White Plains, NY as well as sister Giovanna of Milan, Italy. He is predeceased by two brothers and a sister from Italy. Mr. Palmiotto was a beloved member of the White Plains community and would be found at the office of Al's Moving and Storage (owned by his daughter and son-in-law) where he often assisted with various errands, at the local Italian shop purchasing food (and the occasional lottery ticket!), with friends at the Italian-American club, or enjoying a home cooked meal, a bottle of wine and a story or two with his loving family. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Ave, White Plains. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, White Plains. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
