Angelina Maggio passed away peacefully in her home on September 4, 2020 at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Angelina was born in 1932 in New York City to parents Antonio and Rosita Perez, the older of two daughters. She attended Washington Irving High School and later in life, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Connecticut. She worked for the Rockland County Public Library System for several decades until her retirement in 2002. She was married to Joseph B. Maggio, now deceased, and is survived by her daughters Marjorie Youngs and Diana Larson (Michael) and sons Steven Maggio (Joseph) and Ronald Maggio; grandchildren Michael Larson, Melissa Larson, Matthew Maggio and Christopher Youngs; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Caledonia, Maya and Liliana. Angelina enjoyed collecting art, listening to classical music, especially the opera, visiting museums and traveling the world.
The service, which will be in person and live-streamed, will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, with the Prayer Service starting at 3:00, at Ballard-Durand Funeral and Cremation Services at 72 E. Main Street, Elmsford, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Care of Westchester and Putman, 540 White Plains Rd, Tarrytown, NY 10591. Angelina requested that her remains be cremated and be interred in a private family ceremony at a future date.
