André Lucious Brown was a great man. He was born August 6th, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to James Brown and Bernice Hunt. He had one brother, Darryl, and 3 sisters, Bonita, LaDonn, and Michelle. André went on to enjoy his eternal rest on March 20, 2021 at his home in Mount Vernon, New York where he resided to the young age of 71 years old. He was a devoted husband and is survived by his wife of 40 years Pamela Louis Brown. André was a loving father and friend to his three children Darnell, Melissa, and Amanda. He was the first in his family to receive a college education and a proud graduate of Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he studied biology. Never afraid of hard work, as a student athlete André was recruited and played college basketball and intramural football for Xavier during his time there. He also felt strongly about giving back to his community and was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. He lived, marched, and advocated during civil rights movements akin to the current day Black Lives Matter movement as a young adult, and a friend to all, regardless of color or creed. André Brown lived his life everyday as an exemplary good man and loving human being. He worked much of his life after college as a research scientist and health care worker. To say he was a plant person is to put it lightly. André was a Naturalist at heart and an avid plantsman, a lover and caregiver of all things plant related. His keen eye and love of his family and nature could be seen in many of his compositions as an amateur photographer. He also had a warm spot in his heart for all creatures big and small and cared for and adopted several animals over the years. And if that wasn't enough, as a real renaissance man André was also a master of witty fortune cookie-type sayings and yodaisms and words of inspiration and thoughtfulness as a published poet. André had an infectious warmth. He was genuine and light-hearted in the way he lived life. All who met him were drawn to and couldn't help but fall in love with who he was. We will all miss him dearly and know that sometimes it is the brightest stars that burn out sooner than the rest. We love you Dad.
