Amalia Domenica Colosimo (Molly), a current resident of White Plains, NY, died peacefully on December 2nd, 2024, at age 89 after a brief and unexpected illness. Amalia was born in the Bronx on March 11, 1935, to first generation Italian American immigrants Biaggio and Frances Gerardi. She was the second of two children, survived by her brother Dr. Anthony Gerardi, a resident of Florida. Molly earned a teaching degree from Hunter College in 1956, and married Joseph Louis Colosimo (Joe) shortly after her graduation. Molly and Joe were childhood friends, and Joe quickly realized they were destined to be together. Molly and Joe were blessed with their first child Gina Colosimo in 1957, followed by Dr. Angelo Colosimo in 1958, Louis Colosimo in 1959 (Lisa), Stephen Colosimo in 1961 (Debbie), and Teresa Colosimo-Miller in 1965 (David). Molly emanated a grace and beauty that was complimented by her fierce independence and strong will. She was a supportive spouse and dedicated mother who stressed the importance of family, took pride in her Italian heritage, and perpetuated the rich traditions that will forever be part of her legacy. She was a devoted friend and confident, possessing unmatched compassion, generosity, and courage such that all those who knew her considered it a privilege. Among Molly’s many blessings are eleven grandchildren; Joseph (Katie), Michael, Nicholas, Sophia, Christopher, Louis Jr, John, Victoria, Nicholas, Matthew, and Elizabeth. Molly is pre-deceased by her parents and beloved husband Joe, who passed in 1999. Molly embodied the true definition of “family”. Although she will be missed, her presence will endure forever. Viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 6th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ballard-Durand in White Plains, NY.
