Music was a prevalent joy throughout her life. She played the violin and particularly enjoyed not only listening to, but also attending opera performances. She and her husband Frank could cut a rug like few others. Alvine could often be heard singing around the house and, also in the Church Choir.

Alvine welcomed her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren joyously. She reveled in spending time with them during sporting events, theatrical performances, academic achievements and holiday gatherings.
