Allen Gutkin

Allen F. Gutkin (born in Brooklyn in 1934) joined his deceased wife Joan on May 12, 2023, after a short bout with Cancer. Allen had a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College and loved to discuss the subject. He was an excellent athlete, beginning with playing basketball with the Priams in the Bensonhurst JCC. He was an avid golfer, second baseman, tennis partner with Joan, and excellent snow and water skier. Allen deeply enjoyed classical and Klezmatics music, played the Trumpet in his younger years, and had a long running subscription to the NY Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a voracious reader. He loved sitting on his porch in Peekskill and doing the NY Times crossword puzzle and camping in the Florida keys.

Allen was born to Eli and Sara (Eisenberg) Gutkin. He has 2 daughters Cari Hallion and Lisa Gutkin, one son Jeffrey and his wife Karyn. He is also survived by his sister Janet and Brother-in-Law Jack, and three nieces, Rhonda, Beth and Leslie. He has four Grandchildren, Lauren, Tara, Erin and Jessica and four Great Grandchildren, Emma, Asher, Liam and Briar. He waited until he met Briar for the first time before he passed.

Allen worked most of his life in his toy wholesale company in NYC, driving from store to store and meeting with customers. He enjoyed that interaction and he was truly loved by his customers, but his favorite was to walk into a store to buy ice cream and leave with a new account. He was a humble and devoted family man and he will certainly be missed by his close and distant relatives, friends and all that knew him.

Services will be held on May 15, 2023 at 11:00AM. Allen sang with the Clearwater Walkabout Chorus.
