Alan Sitomer, 84, of Tarrytown, NY, passed away surrounded by his family on August 17, 2011, after suffering a heart attack.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Annette, and his children, Todd Sitomer, of Springfield, NJ; Joan Sitomer and her husband Frank DeSanto, of Ypsilanti, MI; and Barbara Sitomer, of Tarrytown, NY, as well as his dear brother, Stephen Sitomer, and his wife Elaine, of Boca Raton, FL. He also leaves behind six grandchildren -- Matt and his partner Wendy Hopkins, Dan and his wife Rachel, Tim and his partner Rachel Stewart, Pete, Aaron, and Jacob.
Alan served proudly in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II and graduated with honors in 1949 from the New York University School of Commerce. He built a highly successful career in sales and marketing of fabrics for men's shirting and sleepwear and was a principal of Stylemaker Fabrics for many years.
Family was central to his life and he is missed more than words can express. Among his other loves were golf, the New York Yankees and Giants, and all things British.
He will be laid to rest at the non-denominational Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum in Manhattan in a private ceremony for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., the United Jewish Appeal, or the American Civil Liberties Union.
