Adam Crispinelli

November 29, 1909 — December 23, 2012

Born on November 29, 1909 Departed on December 23, 2012

Adam was born in Abruzzo, Italy in the small village of Vasto on 11/28/1909 to Sebastian and Grazia (Raimondi) Crispinelli. Florence DeSalvo and he married on June 24, 1936; she predeceased him on Jan. 21, 2009. Adam was also predeceased by his beloved daughter, Grace Crispinelli Robinson, on Aug. 9, 2001. Adam was the last surviving member of a loving family of three brothers and two sisters: Nicholas, Michele (Mike), Leonard, Marion Imperato (Tom), and Claire Rosner (Marvin). In addition, Adam was predeceased by his great friend and beloved brother-in-law Henry Rainaldi. Still living are his sisters-in-law: Joan Crispinelli (Leonard) and Marian Rainaldi. He will be sorely missed by ten loving nephews and nieces and many great nephews and nieces who gave him the same love he so easily gave them. They all profited by his advice and wisdom. Adam was a long time member of the Italian American Club of Elmsford, where his good humor and ballroom dancing with his wife Flo is still spoken about. Adam generously gave his time and effort to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Elmsford where he was Lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. He is remembered as a member who could help his Parish in many different ways. He was an avid golfer (he often said he hoped to continue to improve his game in heaven), and reader. Adam was well informed, a great converser, and a source of information on the history of the Bronx as lived by Italian immigrants in the first half of the twentieth century. Adam spent his career in the construction industry. After graduating from a technical high school, he turned the family bricklaying trade into becoming a general contractor foreman; and at the end of his career he served as foreman on construction projects for The City of New York. Adam was a loving husband, father, uncle and family member and friend. He will be missed by all. Friends may call at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 72 E. Main St. Elmsford, NY on Thursday 12/27 from 2-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Elmsford on Friday at 11am with burial to follow at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are appreciated at JDRF-Westchester Chapter, 30 Glenn St. Suite 203, White Plains, NY 10603 or at www.JDRF.org/Westchester.
