Thomas Sementa fought cancer, pneumonia, and COVID-19 all at the same time before he passed on November 3rd from lack of oxygen. He was surrounded by his wife, Peggy Sementa (Nee Guerriero), and his son, Richard Sementa, and his doctors doing everything they could to keep him alive.
He lived in Hawthorne, NY, and died at the age of 70. He believed family was everything. With his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Sementa; his brothers, Michael (Liz Jennings) and Patrick (Ann Slavik); his ex-wife, Dorothy Moura (Manuel Moura); his sons, Richard (Jennifer Butcher) and Kevin Sementa (Adrianna), his grandsons; Ethan and Carter Sementa, his nephews and nieces; James (Amanda), Brian (Antoinette), and Kaitlyn (Skënder Muça) and of course Peggy's very large family. He was surrounded with love. He also had lots of friends. In addition to the ones he gained while being at TJB.
His parents were Louis and Florence (nee Bufano). He was born and raised in the Bronx. Like most in the Bronx, he liked the Yankees. He got a degree in business marketing. And later worked with his brothers. He lived a very happy life with his family.
Unfortunately, everything changed when, on November 8, 2022, he was diagnosed with respiratory cancer. After going through the treatment, his family was hoping he would stay in remission. But unfortunately, in August of this year, it was discovered that his cancer had spread. While he had to endure many hospital visits in the past few months, he was able to celebrate his 70th birthday surrounded by family and friends. He passed away in Paramount Rehabilitation Center on November 3rd.
His final words were: “I love you.”
In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the American Cancer Society or S t Jude's Children's Hospital in the name of Thomas Patrick Sementa.
