Ruth Dreisacker, previously of White Plains, NY, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2019 in Bridgeport, CT with family by her side. Born in Carrier Mills, IL on August 10, 1929, to Mamie and James Holmes, Ruth was the eighth of ten children. Ruth was living in Dayton, Ohio in 1948, when she met and married John Dreisacker of Yonkers, NY. They settled in Thornwood, NY, where Ruth, a kind and loving mother, raised her five children: Herbert John (pre-deceased), Ellen Ruth, Susan Margaret, Nancy Ann, and James Wiseman. Along with four of her children, Ruth is survived by a brother, Roy Holmes, a sister Paulma Clark, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A wake service will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY. A church service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11:00, at the Presbyterian Church of White Plains, 39 North Broadway, White Plains, NY. A burial service will immediately follow at Holy Mount Cemetery, Tuckahoe, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Dementia Society of America.
