Rose Materile 97 of Southbury, Ct passed away due to natural causes in her home on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. She was born in White Plains, NY and was the second child of Sebastian Fucile and Louise Marucci.
She married Samuel Materile in 1936. Together they owned Depot Place Restaurant for several years, both working very hard to make it a success, which it was. They moved to Puerto Rico where they opened up another restaurant in Old San Juan. Rose worked in the kitchen as the head cook, as she was an extremely talented chef and cook. This restaurant was just another one of her successes. They returned to White Plains where Rose was a secretary to her husband’s business. Eventually they moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where Rose volunteered at the local hospital.
She is survived by her children Joseph Michael Materile of Danbury, CT and Rosemarie Turner of New Canaan, CT. Beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren, Edgar V. Turner III, Julie Ellen Morgan, Jeff Samuel Turner, John Rollins Turner, Susan Coppeno, Samantha Materile, and Joseph Michael Materile JR. and thirteen great grandchildren. A sister to Virgina Peduzzi, and Susan Humeston, as well as her brother John Fucile. Her husband of 56 years and brothers Frank Fucile, Michael Fucile, sister Viela Pennachio predeceased Rose.
