Rita DiNizo, was born in Colledimezzo, Italy on November 11, 1947, died on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from injuries sustained in car accident in Raleigh Durham, North Carolina.
Rita was a devoted daughter to Paolina and Ulderico DiNizo who pre deceased her. She leaves behind her sister Teresa DiNardo (Giacinto), brothers Domenick DiNizo (Nadine) and Richard DiNizo. She was like a second mother and loved all of her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews with all of her heart.
She immigrated to NY in January 1961 at the age of 13. She attended Alexander Hamilton HS and then went on to obtain her Cosmetology license from Wilfred Beauty Academy.
She was a hairdresser and self-employed for most of her life. Rita's Beauty Salon was the "Cheers" of Elmsford, where not only did everyone know your name but all about your family and your preferred haircut and color. When Rita decided to take a leave and move back to Italy in 1980, her clients sobbed. She made an impact on all who knew her with her kindness, friendly attitude, and generosity. She returned from Italy in 1985 and continued her profession in Pleasantville, NY at Broadway Coiffures until she retired and moved to North Carolina in 2016.
She loved to shop, travel, a good murder mystery and try her luck at any casino. Her family and friends will truly miss her.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 27 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford, NY. Reposing Monday, April 26 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home , 72 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY. Entombment will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery , Hartsdale, NY.
