Louise Germano of Scarsdale, New York passed away on December 30, 2018, two days from her 94th birthday. She was born on January 1, 1925 in New York City to Gaeton and Anna Andretta. Her brothers were Ralph and Gaeton, Jr. and her sister was Maria, all of whom predeceased her. Louise was a loyal daughter and proud sister.
A dutiful and inquisitive student, Louise graduated from Jane Addams Vocational High School in 1943. In 1946 she married her beloved husband Frank, whom she had met years earlier while an active member of the Society of the Children of Mary at Our Lady of Pity Church in the Bronx. Their union lasted until Frank's death in 1992.
After working for several years at Burdick, Becker and Fitzsimmons, a dominant medical advertising firm, Louise parlayed her interest in medicine into a career as an administrator and medical transcriptionist in the Pathology department of St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx and, later, at Scarsdale Medical Group. In later years, she was happy to volunteer as an election inspector at local polling places during several primary and November elections.
At the age of 91, she aspired to achieve a college degree and was accepted to the College of New Rochelle.
Louise was a delighted mother to her beloved daughters Christine and Annemarie and to their husbands, Domenick and Frank. She was an adoring grandmother to John, Michael, Lisa, Paul, and Frank and great-grandmother to Joseph and Lola. She kept faithful contact with a large group of extended family members and never stopped making new friends.
An accomplished cook, seamstress, and hostess, Louise was devoted to the art of gracious living. She thrilled to great performances and the written word. She keenly followed current events. Most of all, she cherished her family and never failed to let them know they were loved and cared for. She will be remembered by all as a distinctive personality: uncommon, distinguished, remarkable.
