Laurie Hammond

Laurie Hammond, a lifelong Elmsford resident, passed away May 26, 2017 at the age of 64 from cancer. She was born October 31, 1952 to Lorraine and Thomas Higgins. Laurie was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Higgins Jr. and mother, Lorraine Higgins. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Edwin Hammond, father, Thomas Higgins, and niece, Jessica Higgins. Laurie worked as a teacher’s aide at Alice E. Grady Elementary School. Upon retirement she spent her time volunteering for Recycled Paws Rescue. Laurie was a compassionate and lively individual. She put those she loved before herself and gave her all when pursuing her passions.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday (5/30/17) from 4-8pm at Ballard-Durand in Elmsford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday (5/31/17) at 1pm at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Recycled Paws Rescue.
